The ground rules, in plain English
Terms of Service
Effective date: August 2026. Booking any service with Brassy's Paw Army means you agree to these terms. They exist to keep every dog, cat, and human in the pack safe.
The binding version lives in Time To Pet. Before your first booking, you review and sign our full service agreement in the Time To Pet portal. This page is a plain-English summary of the key points. Where the two differ, the signed portal agreement is the one that counts.
Our services
We provide dog walking, drop-in visits for dogs and cats, adventure and enrichment days (Active Paws, Beach Day), mobile dog fitness (Turbo Paws), baths, and pet transport in San Jose, Campbell, Los Gatos, and Saratoga, California. Scheduling and payment run through our Time To Pet client portal.
Every new client starts with a Meet and Greet
All new clients complete a Meet and Greet evaluation before booking any service. This is not optional. It is how we learn your dog and decide, honestly, whether a service is the right fit.
Some dogs also need decompression sessions before moving into regular or group care, so they can get comfortable with our handlers, routines, and environments. How many depends on your dog's temperament, age, and history. Decompression sessions are booked and billed as services, and moving on to regular care is not guaranteed.
For safety, we may decline a service, change the service type, or remove a dog from group activities at any time.
Your part of the deal
- Tell us the truth about your pet. Any history of aggression, biting, fear, escape artistry, or health conditions must be shared before the first service. Surprises put dogs and people at risk.
- Vaccinations current. Dogs in our care must be up to date on core vaccinations (rabies, DHPP, and bordetella for group activities).
- Safe access. For drop-ins and home services, you'll provide working entry instructions and a safe environment. If we arrive and can't get in, or can't safely secure your pet, that time counts toward the visit and the full charge applies.
- Gear. A well-fitted collar or harness and a leash in good condition.
- Your dog's coat. Regular grooming and brushing, especially for long or double-coated breeds. More on this below.
Booking, payments, and fees
All requests go through the Time To Pet app. A service isn't scheduled until we confirm availability and the request is approved in the app. A card on file is required, and payment is due before the service is performed.
Fees worth knowing about up front:
- Same-day and short-notice bookings: $25.
- Changes made within 12 hours of the start time: $25, or the full service if the change affects our routing.
- Mileage: $1 per mile roundtrip for locations 4 or more miles outside Campbell, CA.
- Sitting deposits: overnight sitting, in-home sitting, and drop-ins covering travel or multi-day care all require a non-refundable deposit to hold the dates. The balance is due before the start date.
- Other add-ons (puppy and senior care, medication, home-care extras, baths) are shown in Time To Pet when you book.
Cancellations and no-shows
Regular days. Give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule without a fee. Inside 24 hours, we charge 50% of the service. If we arrive and no one answers, we can't get to your pet, your pet can't be safely handled, or you cancel at the door, the service is charged in full and package clients lose a session.
Major holiday weeks are different. Thanksgiving week, Christmas week, and New Year's week are non-refundable. Cancellations during those weeks are charged the full amount at any notice, including same-day, because that time is reserved and can't be rebooked. All other holidays follow a 48 hour notice window, with 50% charged inside it.
We can waive a cancellation fee for a documented emergency. That is our call, case by case.
Packages. Packages are non-refundable. Unused sessions do not roll over, and packages can't be transferred between pets or clients without our written approval.
Health, coats, and foxtails
If your pet appears sick or injured in our care, we'll contact you immediately. If we can't reach you in an emergency, you authorize us to seek veterinary care at your expense. You're responsible for veterinary costs arising from your pet's pre-existing conditions or undisclosed behaviors.
Outdoor services carry outdoor risks. Walks, Active Paws, Paw Circuit, and Beach Day happen in real environments, and foxtails, burrs, seeds, sand, and debris come with the territory, especially in dry months. Keeping your dog's coat in shape for that is your job. We do reasonable visual checks, but we are not a grooming or veterinary service, and we can't be responsible for finding foxtails, ticks, hot spots, or skin irritation hidden under a coat. Please check your dog after outdoor services.
Between visits. Most of our services are scheduled, limited, and intermittent. They are not continuous supervision. We aren't responsible for conditions that develop or worsen outside of scheduled service times, or that come from your pet's own licking, chewing, or scratching.
If your dog bites or causes damage
Dogs can act unpredictably, even with no history of it. If your pet injures a handler, another animal, or a third party, or damages property, you're responsible for the resulting costs. We may end the service on the spot, move your dog to private-only services, or decline future bookings. The full service charge still applies.
Honest limits of responsibility
Dogs are living, unpredictable animals, and pet care carries inherent risk from weather, terrain, other animals, and your pet's own behavior. We exercise real professional care with every animal (it's the whole point of the Paw Army), but by booking you accept these inherent risks. To the extent California law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service involved. Nothing here limits liability where the law says it can't be limited, such as gross negligence.
Billing questions
If something on an invoice looks wrong, talk to us first and we'll sort it out. Filing a chargeback on a service that was booked, approved, and provided is a breach of these terms, and you'd be responsible for the outstanding balance and any dispute fees.
Photos
We photograph and film pets during services for your updates, for internal safety and training records, and for our website and social media. By booking, you're giving us permission to use those photos publicly. If you'd rather your pet not appear in anything public, just tell us in writing and we'll keep them out of it. We'll still keep internal photos for safety and record-keeping, and those never get shared. See our Privacy Policy.
Weather and seasonal services
Beach Day and outdoor adventures are weather-dependent and seasonal. If conditions aren't safe, we'll reschedule. Dogs don't get heatstroke on our watch.
The legal basics
These terms are governed by California law, and any dispute would be handled in the courts of Santa Clara County. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may update these terms, and the current version always lives at this page. Continuing to book services after a change means you accept the update.
